3d Annual Poemeleon Summer Reading coming up

Hi folks,

Well, I just can't seem to keep my fingers out of the pot -- I've changed the look of Poemeleon (again) so stop on by and have a look if you haven't already.

We're proud to announce that the 3d Annual Poemeleon Summer Reading is coming up. It will be held on Thursday August 7th from 7 pm to 9 pm or thereabouts (during ArtsWalk) on the ROOF of the Riverside Art Museum.

Also, Poemeleon contributor Judy Kronenfeld, whose manuscript recently won the Litchfield Review Poetry Prize and is just out from Litchfield Review Press, along with myself and my lovely associate editor, Maureen Alsop, will be reading this Saturday August 2nd at the Riverside Public Library from 2 -4 pm in a program called "All Lit Up: Three Regional Women Poets Read From and Discuss Their New Books", presented by the Inlandia Institute.

Hope to see you at one or both of these events!

Persona poem issue update

It has taken me far longer than I anticipated to finish getting out all of the notifications for the persona issue, but it's done.

I think I've said this before, but the rejections are the hardest thing for me. I, too am routinely on the receiving end of the rejection slip, so I know how it feels. You've all put an enormous amount of effort and time and thought into your poems, and it shows, which is why I ended up turning down some very competent work this time. I hope that those of you whose poems we did not select will find success in publishing them elsewhere, and that you will continue to write and submit to Poemeleon. Regretfully, in order to speed up the process I had to resort to generic letters for the majority of rejections. It's not my preference, but I just didn't want to keep anyone waiting any longer. Joyfully, I think this is going to be one our most interesting issues to date.

Thanks for your patience. Look for the persona poem issue in early June.
