About Poemeleon

Poemeleon: A Journal of Poetry was founded in December of 2005. Each issue is devoted to a specific kind of poetry. The first issue, dedicated to the poetry of place, launched in June, 2006, with subsequent issues dedicated to ekphrastic poetry (volume I issue 2), poems in form (volume II issue 1), prose poems (volume II issue 2), and persona poems (volume III issue 1, forthcoming June 2008).

Poemeleon is edited by Cati Porter (founder & editor-in-chief), Maureen Alsop and Ren Powell (associate editors), and Tom Hunley (book review editor), and published twice per year.

Poemeleon hosts an annual summer reading, runs an ongoing contest series called The Mystery Box, and nominates for prize anthologies such as the Pushcart and Best of the Net, with work included in the 2007 issue of  Meridian's Best New Poets series (University of Viriginia Press).
