Welcome to the second issue of Poemeleon.

I chose to focus on ekphrasis for what are probably selfish reasons: I love poetry. And I love art. What could possibly be better than sitting and reading about art through the medium of poetry – except, perhaps, being fed bon bons while doing so. (And who's to say I wasn't?)

Art takes us places we've never been, places that we want to return to, or not. I've included at the bottom of each page a link to the specific work of art the poem is responding to, usually to the museum in which it is housed. In addition, many of the poets chose to contribute a statement regarding the impetus behind their poems – good reading in and of itself.

So go tour the poems, tour the museums.

And please – keep coming back.
