The entry
Snacks, and a directional sign, were set up in the lobby. Falafel, hummus, pita chips, coffee, tea, biscotti. Yum. (Coffee provided courtesy of the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.)

The Art Alliance Gallery
Here's a shot of the room taken just before the reading.
-
Maureen Alsop
Here's Maureen Alsop, a past contributor (issues 1 & 2), now one of my lovely associate editors! She read her poem "Sunshield", after paintings from Wyeth's "Helga" series.
-
Lavina Blossom
Lavina Blossom, here reading "Bricoleur" from the most recent issue dedicated to form, also read at last year's reading.
-
Frankie Drayus
What a treat to meet contributors face to face! Here's Frankie Drayus, an L.A. poet, reading, among others, "Lust" (found in the most recent issue of Third Coast), and "Naiad", a villanelle from the form issue.
-
Judy Kronenfeld
Here's Judy Kronenfeld, who also read at last year's reading. Among the poems that she read this time was her very funny villanelle, "HMOgenized".
-
Robert Krut
Another L.A. poet, Robert Krut, who teaches at UCSB, read both of his poems from the form issue, among others.
-
Frances Ruhlen McConnel
Frances Ruhlen McConnel, reading her "Double Sonnet on the Occasion of My Granddaughter's Viewing of Her First Sex Education Film", as well as several haiku and poems from her new book.
-
Gallery, too
A photo of the room taken at the end of the reading. Frances McConnel was our final reader. The table in the foreground held books, lots and lots of books. Contributors from all over the country sent them to have out for the reading. Good stuff!
-
After the reading
After the reading, Maureen and Lavina.
-
What is this?
They called it art!

Group shot, take 2
Group shot2: in order to fit all of us in, we stood sideways (well, sort of), and I jokingly remarked that we should all do a chorus line kick. Go Frankie and Maureen!
